On the Thursday evening before his death, Jesus was eating with his disciples. All of a sudden He rose from the table, laid aside his mantle, took a towel, poured water into a basin and began to wash the feet of his disciples, wiping them with the towel. The great glorious God kneeling in front of mere men and washing their feet!

When Jesus had washed the feet of his disciples, he sat down at table again and told them: “Do you understand what I have done to you? You call Me Lord and Master and you are right, for it is what I am. Why then, if I have washed your feet, I who am the Master and the Lord, you in turn ought to wash each other’s feet. I have shown you the example so that you may do likewise.”

Jesus meant to say, I have loved you and rendered you services. You also must love one another and render services to one another.
